Our Mission: Promote a healthy lifestyle through training and friendly competition in the sport of Triathlon.

MEETING OVERVIEW FEBRUARY 20, 2012

For those of you who had to miss this week’s meeting, here’s what you need to know:

2012 Regionals & Nationals Information

***For Regionals/Nationals we have a “scoring team” which is our top 7 men and top 7 women on our team.*** (these races are still open to race for anyone, not just our "scoring team"!!!)

Nationals is the "Big Race", where we show the collegiate triathlon world what we're all about. If you want to get the full TAMU Tri experience, be sure to sign up for this race before spots are sold out!

~Top 7 men and Top 7 women QUALIFICATION ~:
The top 7 ladies and top 7 gentlemen will be determined at the team Time Trial on March 3rd. These people will be our designated scoring team for Regionals. The top 4 ladies and gents at the TT will also be guaranteed to be in our scoring team at Nationals. The remaining top 3 for each respectively will be based on performance at the TT AND at Regionals. The time trial will be Olympic distance.

COLLEGIATE REGIONALS 2012 (http://www.ironheadrp.com/collegiateQualifier/index.html):
This is the first year USAT is hosting a Regional qualifier race for Nationals. It will take place on March 31st.

Regionals is an OPEN race, meaning that ANYONE on our team can race!! It’s not quite an Olympic distance race, tad bit shorter. Everyone will pay for their entry fee for this race, even the “scoring team”.

**Regionals is basically mandatory if you plan on racing as one of our Top athletes at nationals. You should have a very good reason to not compete at Regionals if you expect to compete and score at nattys.

Triathlon Meeting Re-Cap for November 14

MEETING RE-CAP FOR MONDAY OCT 18, 2011

Howdy Triathlon Family!

In case you missed the meeting this week, here's what went down...

Our guest speaker for the night was former TAMU Triathlon President, Jordan McGowan, who now works for the company, Newton Running.  Jordan spoke to the team about different versions and variations of natural running, as well as correct running form, and what you can do as an athlete to help you in your training and your races. We were very lucky to have him come visit and speak to us!

We also had a re-cap of our race from the past weekend, the 19th Annual AMICA Try Andy's Triathlon in Sugarland. We had 23 athletes from the team compete in the race.  Way to race hard Aggies! We will have those race results available on this website as soon as they become available.

FALL TRAINING CHALLENGE ALERT!

The team's Fall Training Challenge starts this week! We will start tallying points beginning with tonight's team swim and going until Monday, November 14. A total of 4 weeks.

The rules are SIMPLE:

1.) Come to the team practices

2.) Sign-In

3.) Actually practice at the practice

Whoever attends the most team practices will be the FALL TRAINING CHALLENGE CHAMPION! You don't have to be the fastest or put in the most milage to win this challenge. Just show up and move! As usual, there will be prizes for the top 5 trainers and the overall winner will receive the coveted Training Challenge Trophy!

GIG 'EM!

Missed the first Meeting? No Problem!

If you didn't get a chance to sign up for the team at our Monday meeting you can do so before practice anytime this week.

We will have Assumption of Risk (AOR) forms and Team Registration forms at practice this week. You must turn an AOR form in before you can practice, and you need to have your health insurance info to complete the form.

Team dues can be paid in cash or check. For the rest of this week, there will be team officers at practices at least 30 minutes early to take care of administrative stuff and answer questions.

Also, the discounted forms we have for Tri Andy's Triathlon ($35) will be up for grabs. This is a great beginner, sprint race. We have a limited amount of these forms so you must complete the form and make payment at the same time. No showing up and taking forms home for later. Preferably pay by check so it can be made out to the race itself, but if you only have cash, come anyway and we will figure something out. Remember you must pay full membership dues for the semester to get team race discounts and travel with the team to races.

We are on our way to having the largest triathlon team in the Nation again, WHOOP!!

MSC Open House and First Team Meeting

We will be at MSC Open House this Saturday, Sept. 3rd from 2-6pm at Reed Arena. Come by our table and say hi!

Our first team meeting of the school year will be Monday, Sept. 5th at the Rec Center at 9pm in room 281 (go up the first set of stairs on your right when you walk into the rec center). We will explain everything you need to know about our club, racing, practices, how much fun you're going to have with us, etc. You will also be able to pay dues!! Please remember, it doesn't matter if you've never completed a triathlon, or can't swim, run or bike, we can help you!! Get excited, it's going to be a great year!
