To Tempe and Back!

I was fortunate to be able to participate in my 3rd collegiate nationals with the team. What a journey it was! We left Wednesday night, arrived in Tempe on Thursday, raced Friday and Saturday, competed for the Spirit Award the entire weekend only to have it stolen by UC Santa Barbara. If only our conference was as united as theirs (and actually showed up to awards), maybe we could have won. However, we've been nominated as finalists two years in a row now, so third time's a charm , right? After an uneventful bus drive, we made it to College Station late Sunday night. I'm super proud of how all of our zebras did, from Carleigh's break-out performance in the Olympic distance to Colin McCatharn's blazing run that put him into top 75. Our girls finished 6th out of the women with Lauren Lewis leading the team, narrowly missing the podium by 10 points. Combined, we also finished 6th as a team behind University of Colorado, UCLA, UC Berkeley, West Point, and Navy. Michael Arishita had a great performance finishing 13th in the combined men's score. Our relay also had a stellar performance, finishing 11th out of over 40 teams.

It has been very exciting to serve as your 2013-2014 president, but I'm afraid it is time to pass on the baton. Colin McCatharn will be your new president, and he's got my full support going on into the next school year!
